The sugar cane journey: From the plantation to your table

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO
ALL!

We are leaving behind another year marked by a global health emergency.

Despite the challenges caused by the various restrictions, we have kept our mission to offer you a very sweet year. Here is a summary of what we have experienced together:

2021, A RECORD FOR
C2H5OH

2021 was an exceptional year with regards to alcohol supply. Compagnie Sucrière put 88,900 Hl of ethanol on the market for various uses (including surface cleaning and the manufacture of sanitizing gels), more than twice the quantity achieved in 2020.

The sugar campaign, which is the big event of each year, was also a success: thanks to the wonderful collaboration of our teams, we produced 83,400 T of this beautiful brown sugar that has become a hallmark of the Congolese market.

COMPAGNIE SUCRIÈRE COMMITS!

For a world that is each day better than the one before, we are proud to have worked on different aspects in 2021:

Education:

Lycée Compagnie Sucrière trained 487 students during the 2020-2021 school year, with our finalists achieving a 100% success rate in the State Examinations for the math and physics section and 90.9% for the commercial section.

Training:

Local training was provided to 1,702 employees mainly from the Agronomic Department, the Factory, the General Services and the Garage, thanks to the collaboration between our internal training centre and the National Institute of Professional Preparation (INPP).

Environmental protection:

With the Planète Kwilu initiative, we took the opportunity to raise awareness within our teams on the respect and maintenance of our living spaces, notably through the “zero paper” action (conscious management aiming to reduce the use of paper) and team-building activities around cleaning.

Talent incubation:

We believe in the Congolese youth and in healthy development by following each one’s passion. 2021 was also an opportunity to invest in this direction through the project “Kwilu Foot” which will provide academic training and technical supervision to young athletic talent, male and female. Between leisure and learning, Kwilu Foot in 2021 was: two big inter-post tournaments, organizing some friendly matches but most importantly a training course with 27 wonderful female talents under 18 years old who learned our values: Respect – Solidarity – Work.

Waste recovery:

Through the Elikya project, we have been agents of sanitation and waste transformation – a valorization that has resulted in the production of biogas. In 2021, we built 61 dry toilets, including one in a school, and also installed a community gas kitchen that reduces the use of coal for cooking and helps protect our environment.
